Advanced Skills Teachers

ADVANCED SKILLS TEACHERS

Welcome to the AST resource and information site.  We currently have 10 Advanced Skills Teachers working in Stoke Schools - Primary, Secondary and the City Music School, and funding permitting we are hoping to increase this number.      All of our ASTs demonstrate the highest quality teaching and learning practice as well as being subject specialists.

ASTs are available for supporting both their own school and providing outreach support for other schools in delivering training, developing classroom management strategies, lesson planning, assisting with assessments and observations with NQTs and GTPs plus much more.  Their support is free and the LEA fund the 'Home School' for supply cover.

Our own ASTs are often quite modest about their abilities and expertise, but they are always pleased to be able to share what works and help to grow our future champions for learning.  This link will take you to an  up to date list of our AST's together with their experience and contact details.

This site is intened to be a source of information and support for ASTs, Schools and LEA colleagues and associated documentation contained on this site will give you more in-depth information and understanding of how ASTs work and sets out the processes for requesting assistance with outreach work as well as advise for Home School and the AST on the management of timetable etc.

Newsletters are issued to schools each term, to view the latest newsletter please click on the links below.
